I was lying on the top of a grassy hill, looking up at the stars. It was so peaceful, so calm. At least, it was. I heard a shuffle a few yards behind me, but thought nothing of it. Then, I heard his voice.
"Hey, Clover. I see you haven't changed," the man snarled.
"Timothy, nice to see you again," I said back sarcastically, reaching for my sword. I felt something almost puncture my hand, but moved out of the way just in time.
"You're quicker than last time!" he said laughing.
"Yeah, either that, or you're slower!" I retorted, smiling. He wasn't too happy about that.
I remember the last time we saw each other. We were in a relationship, but he got very violent with me. We fought almost every day. I finally got the nerve to leave in the middle of the night. And I haven't seen him ever since. I've also learned how to use swords very well, and I was the best that my sensei ever taught. Now, I carry a weapon with me at all times.
"Now, let's finish what we started!" Tim screamed. We ran toward each other, a sword in his hand as well as mine. Our swords clashed against each other, never giving in and never breaking skin. I was getting very tired; we had been fighting for at least 30 minutes of nonstop battling. But he just kept coming at me! I finally fell to the ground, panting heavily. "Any last words?" he said, pointing his sword at me. I shook my head, waiting for an impact, but nothing happened. I opened my eyes, and a man stood over Tim, pointing a gun to his face.
"Now you leave this lady alone!" he shouted. Tim suddenly got very scared and ran off. Then the mysterious man can over to me and helped me up. "Are you alright, miss?" he asked me.
"Y-yes. Thanks for saving me. I don't think I would be here if it weren't for you. What is your name and how can I repay you." I said.
"My name is Train. Train Heartnet. And you can repay me with milk." He said happily. "Oh! And what's your name?"
"My name is Clover. I have some milk at my house." I said.
"Awesome!" Train said as he fist-pumped the air.
We went to my house and I gave him a bottle of milk. He chugged it like he would never have anything to drink ever again. I just smiled and handed him another bottle. "I've heard your name before. Why does it ring a bell?" I said to myself, but he heard me and stopped drinking his milk.
"Um… I was part of an organization called Chronos. My name was Black Cat because I brought people bad luck. I hope this doesn't change your opinion of me." He said sadly.
"N-no! It doesn't! I was just wondering. But you've changed, and you're not an assassin. "I said quickly.
"Good, because I don't have many friends. Will you be my friend?" he asked with a childish face.
"Sure." I said smiling.
After that, we did everything together. We went shopping, saw movies and he even moved into my house. He and I were best friends. He told me stories of his old adventures with Sven and Eve (he likes to call her 'Princess') and how he wants to find them again.
"Why don't we? It sounds like an adventure!" I said cheerfully.
"Really?!" he asked, clearly excited.
"Yeah! I'll go pack some stuff." I said. After putting as many things that could fit into my backpack as possible, we got on his motorcycle and left my house. We went from city to city, not finding any leads to Train's old friends. We decided to stay at a hotel, but they got our rooms mixed up.
"I'm sorry, but it seems that the room we have booked for you two has one king-size bed," the attendant said nervously.
"We are fine! We can stay in the same bed, right Train?" I asked him.
"Y-yeah, sure," he said blushing.
The attendant gave a sigh in relief and handed us our keys. "I hope you have a great time here."
We went up to our room and got changed for bed. I wore sleep pants and a t-shirt, while Train just wore sleep pants. I blushed as I saw his toned chest.
"Well, I'm going to bed." He stated, pulling the covers off the top of the bed.
"M-me too." I said, also getting in. I blushed at being this close to my best friend. "Good night" I said.
"G'night"
I woke up the next morning to Train's arm around me. I felt so warm and comfortable that I didn't move. I listened to his breathing until he woke up, stretched, and his arm left my side.
"Well, let's go find Sven and Eve." I said, missing his arm.
As we left the hotel, Train had a mysterious look in his eyes. He pushed me onto the ground, and I grunted as the cold pavement greeted me coldly. I opened my eyes as Train fell onto the ground, a wound in his stomach.
"Train!" I screamed. I looked up to see Tim with a bloody sword.
"I guess I missed. But I won't this time." He said evilly.
I grabbed hold of Train's hand, preparing for the worst, but a flash of blonde hair, like mine, flashed before my eyes. Tim fell to the ground, dead before he even hit the cement.
"Let's get them out of here!" a man said. I got up, prepared to fight, but he held up his hands. "It's alright! I'm Train's friend, Sven!" he said defensively. My face softened and I went with them to a house in a forest. "What exactly happened?" he asked me.
"My ex-boyfriend tried to kill me but Train pushed me out of the way." I said, almost getting teary eyed. "Will he be alright?"
"Yeah, he should be fine. He hasn't lost very much blood." He said while putting bandages on his stomach. "He'll be out for a few days. You're welcome to stay here miss?"
"Clover is my name. Is this Eve?" I asked, pointing to the blonde haired child.
"Yes, that's my name." she said happily.
"Well, it's time for me to go to bed. You too, Eve." Sven fatherly said.
"Alright." Eve said, going up to her room.
"I'll stay here and watch over Train." I said.
"Ok. Make yourself at home. Good night." Sven said.
"Night."
I watched Train for about an hour before getting sleepy. I grabbed his hand and quickly fell asleep. When I woke up, Train was staring at me with a smile. When he realized I was awake, he blushed and looked away. I smiled, but then blushed, realizing that I was still holding his hand. Then all of my emotions came crashing down on me.
"I'm so glad you're ok!" I cried, tears coming down my face. I hugged him tightly until he grunted because of his wound. "Sorry!" I said as I let go. "Thanks so much for saving me. Again. Why did you risk your life for me?"
"I-I didn't want you to get hurt because…. because I love you." He said looking down.
I smiled, my eyes getting teary again, and put my lips on his. He was in total shock, but kissed back. It was a sweet kiss, and I never wanted to pull away. But, we did because we heard a person in the doorway saying "Awwww!" It was Eve. When we looked at her, she blushed and ran towards her room.
I looked back into Train's eyes and said, "I love you too." We stayed in each other's arms for the rest of the day. When he got better, we got a house near Sven and Eve. Our lives were pretty easy after that. We were very lucky, despite his alias. You could even say that we lived happily ever after.
